You can start your first day in paradise with the Makena Beach & Golf Resort Sunday Brunch, voted the best brunch on the island for the 7th consecutive year. This morning is free for walking, swimming, snorkeling, or reading in the shade. This afternoon, Hawaiian culture is the theme, and Hula is perhaps Hawaii’s best known cultural signature. With the ocean in view for inspiration, we learn to dance Hula with well-known local Hula dancer, Hulali. Tonight, it’s cocktails at sunset with dinner at a local restaurant. All aboard the Kai Kanani, a luxury 64-foot sailing catamaran, for a snorkeling cruise departing from our very own beach at 9 a.m. Our destination is the Molokini crater, home to an amazing variety of tropical species. Kai Kanani’s experienced crew will outfit us with snorkels, masks and fins, and provide instruction. Then we set sail in search of turtles in the waters off the South Maui Coast. On board we’ll enjoy a continental breakfast, deli lunch, and beverages. Relax this afternoon, because this evening’s dinner and entertainment will be the Makena Beach & Golf Resort Luau. After a short morning at the beach, we depart for lunch and exploration of Maui’s Upcountry. Makawao, our first stop for lunch and shopping, is Maui’s version of a cowboy town with everything from cowboy boots and saloons to art galleries and glass blowing. Then we’re off to Ali’i Kula Lavender farm nestled on the slope of Haleakala, where Mr. Ali’i Chang’s passion for lavender and gardening will astound you. Our last stop, the historic Ulupalakua Ranch, is a window into the past of the Rose family sugar plantation and their famous guests, including King Kalakau and his royal party. We’ll be back in time for sunset and dinner in Kihei. Born in Paradise by Armine von Tempski

For your last morning at Makena Beach, you might want to snorkel one more time looking for the turtles. Or hang out by the pool. Or get the spa treatment you’ve put off. Now that we are ohana – family – we will celebrate in the late afternoon with a memorable meal at Mama’s Fish House. Nestled in a coconut grove on a white sandy beach, Mama’s cuisine pays homage to its Hawaiian and its Polynesian roots. It’s a special place for our farewell dinner. Moloka’i by Alan Brennert
